The Martinican pianist Grégory Privat naturally approached his Guadeloupean accomplice Sonny Troupé and his inventive mastery of the ka drum for their joint album: "Luminescence". On the 10 tracks, the piano thus constantly responds to the ka, also soothes it by offering it a harmony which often acts as a restful guide. Sometimes, it is the drum which takes the piano on its ground, the parallel unrolling of the two instruments discovering with the listening the very rhythmic writing of Grégory Privat. Luminescence offers several atmospheres, several tensions also between the two instruments, which take on the air of a breathless jam with the final track "Improvising in Meudon" captured live and in public in the recording studio. - FIP...

Le pianiste martiniquais Grégory Privat s'est naturellement rapproché de son complice guadeloupéen Sonny Troupé et de sa maitrise inventive du tambour ka pour leur album commun : "Luminescence". Sur les 10 titres, le piano répond ainsi constamment au ka, l'apaise aussi en lui offrant une harmonie qui fait bien souvent office de guide reposant. Parfois, c'est le tambour qui emmène le piano sur son terrain, le déroulé parallèle des deux instruments découvrant à l'écoute l'écriture très rythmique de Grégory Privat. Luminescence  offre plusieurs ambiances, plusieurs tensions aussi entre les deux instruments, qui prennent une allure de jam haletant avec le titre final "Improvising in Meudon"  capté live et en public au studio d'enregistrement. - FIP
